We live about 15-20 miles from it. It's hard to imagine the panic people must have been going through that day (and that whole week for that matter) but luckily nothing happened.

Cant beleive you live so close. The water is so polluted that nothing will ever live there again. I heard of people who have swam in it!

I don't think the water is polluted from the nuclear plant due to the fact it flows downstream. That being said the water does have high levels of Lead and Mercury in it from a lot of environmental problems. We've ate fish upstream 15 miles from the plant (where we live).

We usually only eat it once or twice every year, so it's not at a high enough level to effect us.
