Subject: YLOD ? Sun Aug 23, 2009 2:14 am
oh no, remember how my ps3 wouldn't read discs 2 months ago? it just got worse my ps3 just got the YLOD, the PS3 equivalent of the Red Rings, and from what I've looked up its unfixable Also, i heard that for people who had this happen, it happens at 18 months, and I'm 2 months past that. When i turn it on, the light is green, blinks, flashes yellow, and then shuts back off, the game (which also happened to be my new one i got yesterday) is stuck there, so i'll have to open my ps3 to take it out. WISH ME LUCK THAT I CAN FIX IT, I DON'T WANT TO PAY $150 AND WAIT 3 WEEKS!!!!!!! also, the hard drive would get replaced, so wish me luck on getting all my DLC back

actualy, 45% of 360s get RROD, only 10% of PS3s get YLOD, and YLOD isn't just 1 big problem, it just means something in your ps3 failed, maybe the HDD, maybe it overheated, whatever I COULDN'T FIX IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i did manage to get my new game out of the blu-ray drive when i had it opened though this means.... well, after i get my capture card, then we will buy a new ps3, maybe a slim, and swap my harddrive in the new one, so hopefully it wasn't the HDD that was shot, although i might reopen it in a bit, take out the HDD, and see if it works, if not, then the HDD (Hard Drive) is fine, so if thats the case, ill just put that in my new one (which won't be for another few weeks) so i won't lose all my DLC and accounts and saves

From what i hear they fixed both the rrod and the ylod in the newer systems but since the ps3 slim will be new it could have some of those flaws again.
Also the whole reason Sony wants you to pay $150 is because they won't take the blame for their hardware failing.
